02 Nov CAN IT BE NOVEMBER?
Time is once upon, upon again. Where does it go? Better yet, why doesn’t some of it stay? NO! Can’t be NO-vember. Yet it is.
I oft reread a quote from the brilliant Tennessee Williams:
“Life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by so quick you hardly catch it going.”
So — it is November.
My latest book, MANGER (Eerdmans) has received glorious reviews including a Children’s Book Council “Hot of the Press’ title and a starred review in KIRKUS.
The noted bookstore, POLITICS AND PROSE in Washington, D.C. chose MANGER as the December “First Edition Book Club” selection.MANGER will also be featured at a Ft. Myers, FL, Barnes & Noble, where I’ll be autographing the book on December 6. A portion of the profits will be donated to the Early Learning Coalition of Southwest Florida.
Renee La Tulippe and I continue our “Spotlight on NCTE Poets” series.(See left icon on my home page.)
We recently launched the interview with the incredible Arnold Adoff; forthcoming is Valerie Worth. The work Renee puts into this series is truly outstanding. She is creating an archive of NCTE poetry history.
Now is the time for holiday play, too — theatre, concerts, celebrations, travels to Sarasota and Ft. Lauderdale, plans for 2015 events to include two weeklong cruises.
Time. Time for living and for loving – for enjoying the magic of the coming season.
Indeed, as always — onto tomorrows.
