APRIL-ING…

Overwhelmed at the reception of LULLABY & KISSES SWEET (Abrams).

Overwhelmed! I never thought a board book for toddlers would become so popular so fast. Indeed, a thrilling moment in my career.

The past few months have been filled with theatre. Old saws – OKLAHOMA, WEST SIDE STORY – renewed again due to technology and youthful casts.

Concerts -Gershwin, Rodgers, Webber – reminders of what music and lyrics were. Were!

I reach 77 on the l3th. I was 20 yesterday; 25 as I’m writing. Or 30? Next week 77. Incredulous.

Received f&g’s from my longtime editor, dear friend, Rebecca Davis for JUMPING OFF LIBRARY SHELVES (Boyds Mills Press/Wordsong) illustrated by Jane Manning, due out late summer — a tribute to libraries, librarians, storytellers and words.  New riches by Joan Bransfield Graham, Jane Yolen, Nikki Grimes, Amy Ludwig VanDerwater.

“Look! This is the book for you.” writes Rebecca Kai Dotlich.

Ah, this is the book for ME!

Off again…onto tomorrows.
